This meeting will provide a broad overview of modern aspects of enzymology with a focus on problems that lie at the interface of chemistry and biology. We aim to bring together researchers from the US and Europe in an informal and relaxed atmosphere resembling that of the Gordon Research Conference on Enzymes, Co-enzymes and Metabolic Pathways.

The schedule is designed to allow ample time for participants to interact socially and scientifically. All participants should plan to arrive no later than Wednesday, July 2, 2008. The registration costs will include attendance at the reception and banquet, lunch on the three days of the meeting and refreshments during the coffee breaks. In the interests of collegiality and scientific interaction, the number of participants will be limited to 170 - so register early for this exciting meeting!

The meeting will be held in St Malo, France, which is a famous corsair city located on the Brittany North Sea side facing the English Channel islands of Guernsey and Jersey.
There are a variety of hotels and hostels in the area for the use of meeting participants, and instructions for making housing reservations for the meeting will be provided after receipt of your online registration.

News

There will be two sessions of short contributed lectures selected from submitted abstracts. Each session will consist of 3 x 15-minute presentations (+ 5 minutes discussion) and will be held from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4 (3 talks each day).

A number of participants have indicated that they will be accompanied by spouses, friends, children who will not take part in the scientific sessions. We would like to extend an invitation to these accompanying people to take part in the social events that are scheduled for the meeting (welcome reception, lunches and banquet).

In order to ensure provisioning for all, we need to know the number of guests who plan to attend the welcome reception, the lunches and/or the banquet. Therefore all participants should state on the final registration form the number of guests (and their names so that appropriate badges can be made) who will attend these social events.

In order to cover the costs, there will be the following small surcharges for each guest:
Welcome reception        20 euros
Lunches (only option)     60 euros
Banquet                        50 euros

Please pay these monies to the same accounts as used for the registration fees, as we WILL NOT be able to accept cash payments for guest tickets at the registration desk in St Malo.

For the European participants: Please note that you will be issued with an OFFICIAL RECEIPT for your registration fees at the meeting itself. For tax reasons, all of the receipts must be issued by the CNRS of Gif-sur-Yvette and so we ask your patience in this matter.

Those of you wishing to find out if your payment was received OK can e-mail the organizers directly prior to obtaining your official receipt at the meeting. We would also like to remind that (as posted on the web site) the DEADLINE for receiving registration payments will be APRIL 30, 2008.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

No refunds will be possible.

Pre-registration/Registration

Registration will occur in two steps, Pre-registration then Registration to accommodate all applications and poster submissions. Pre-Registration is only possible using the online Pre-registration form (deadline 29 February, 2008). Please do NOT send money or checks until you receive an e-mail around March 1, 2008 with the final registration form, invoice for the conference fees and extras, and instructions for payment.

Accommodation

We strongly advise that all participants make their accommodation arrangements through the Palais du Grand Large to take advantage of discounted hotel rates. You should download and complete the accommodation request form as soon as possible after you have been accepted to the meeting. This form can also be found in the meeting Travel section.

Download the accommodation request form here

There is a strong housing pressure in St Malo in July . Since in addition that « Tour de France » will be passing by at this period, the accommodation request form should be returned as soon as possible to guarantee your choice of hotel, but certainly no later than April 30, 2008. Confirmation and full details of your room reservation will be sent to you by e-mail shortly after April 30, 2008.

Grants-in-aid

We have a very important announcement for all those young scientists seeking funds to support their participation in the meeting. Thus, we are pleased to announce that financial aid will be made available to partially support the participation of a limited number of graduate students and post-docs at the Conference.

Interested participants should apply for selection by sending a 1-page summary of their CV (education, publications & previous awards) and their 1-page poster abstract by e-mail to Susan MILLER and Bernard BADET (tine2008@icsn.cnrs-gif.fr) so that the organizers can consider their request. THE DEADLINE FOR THE RECEIPT OF ALL APPLICATIONS IS MARCH 29, 2008.

Poster Sessions

The poster sessions will be held in the afternoons of July 3th and 4th.
Interested participants should submit a poster title upon registration. After notification of acceptance, they should submit abstracts as outlined below. The usable area of the poster walls is 0.9 meters (width) x 1.2 meters (height) (3 x 4 feet). If you think that this space is not enough, please slightly increase the height and NOT the width, because this would interfere with the posters next to yours!

Submitting Abstracts for Posters

Poster abstracts should be 1-page (text area 16.5 cm x 22.5 cm) and sent exclusively in .pdf format by e-mail to TinE2008@icsn.cnrs-gif.fr by April 30, 2008. Remember your contribution, if selected, will appear in black & white in the conference booklet. Abstract template is here: .PDF .DOC
